Reading in Year 3
Reading
We take part on our 15 minute read on a daily basis. In addition, we often take part in paired reading where we have an opportunity to read to a partner, as well as hearing our partner read (“Home and Away” partners). Our teacher and teaching assistant will hear us read on a weekly basis.
We have weekly guided reading lessons and our classrooms have cosy, welcoming book corners where we can enjoy reading a book quietly.
Our reading scheme allows children to take home a reading book each week and parents/carers can sign and write a comment in a home/school book. In addition, children can borrow a book from the library and from our “100 Club” box.
Every Friday, we share a Bible story with the children which they find thoroughly enjoyable!
We have “Top 5 Readers of the Week” and these children can use the book corner on a daily basis.
