Welcome
Welcome to Reception, the first chapter of the journey through primary school. This is an exciting year full of growth, learning and new fun experiences. This is your year to make friends for life, become independent, experience things for the first time, become resilient and learn the fundamentals for life. From growing butterflies to seeing animals at the farm, there will be fun had by everyone!
In EYFS at St Teresa’s you will learn in both the indoor and outdoor environments. There will be adult-led and child-led activities through your day and lots of opportunities to learn through play. You will be able to explore, problem solve, experiment and think critically.
In Reception you will grow greatly and will make so much progress in all the prime areas. This will set you up for your journey through school!

The characteristics of effective learning run through and underpin all seven areas of learning and development, representing processes rather than outcomes. The Characteristics of effective learning are:
