Year 5
Welcome
A warm welcome to Year 5. An exciting year full of opportunities to live, learn and grow in Jesus. We will be developing our critical thinking skills, along with trying new things and sometimes failing. We see failure as a positive thing because learning from our mistakes is a big part of how we grow! We look forward to a motivating and challenging year!
St Teresa's offers a thematic approach to the curriculum, where we largely teach through topics or themes so that the work pupils do in different subjects is related. This year our topics will initially take us on a journey through space and then we will enter South Africa. We will be finding out all about the Tudors and tales of King Henry VIII before going back in time to the Ancient Egyptians. We will learn all about farming and we will end the year learning all about the mechanics of rollercoasters. We have planned a range of engaging trips to help children to gain real-world experiences that cannot be taught in the classroom.
Children will begin embarking upon their journey towards the KS2 SATS. We will be revisiting previously taught topics in both English and Maths before mastering new methods and terminology.
We believe that education is a partnership between the school, parents, and students. We value your involvement and support in your child's education journey. We encourage open communication and collaboration, and we are here to address any questions or concerns you may have along the way. Together, we can create a positive and fulfilling learning experience for your children.
We look forward to a successful year with the child.
